This is a long shot, but. I've got an old Artec 1236 USB scanner. Up until now, it's worked. I had it hooked up to a tangerine iMac, scanning using the disk drivers under OS 9.2.2 Fine, no problems. I decided to hook it up directly to my Cube, which in addition to being my primary desktop, also has the printer hooked up to it and the phone line for faxing.
Csiu Drivers Education there. Cut a step out of the process, great idea. Best of all, it only required moving the table the scanner sits on a grand total of six feet. So, I hooked it up, installed Photoshop 5 and the drivers on the Cube, started the Classic environment, went to scan annndddd.
The scanner only gets a portion of the page, it distorts the image size downward. No amount of restarting, fiddling, coaxing, reinstalling, cajoling, threatening or bargaining will get this scanner to behave normally. I've done nothing to it beyond hitting the calibration button, which is supposed to actually make things better, so hopefully that's not the problem. I've hooked it back up to the iMac, and it works fine. Back to the Cube, it's back to abnormal. I tried restarting in OS 9, got the same results; tried installing Adobe PhotoDeluxe, same results. The disk calls it the 'iMac version,' which I always assumed just meant that that was why it's got an orange cover.
I mean, it can't possibly mean that the drivers are only designed to give you a good scan on an iMac, can it? So, I was wondering if anyone else might have any ideas.
